Who should attend
Any care or health staff who need to increase their understanding of Equality and Diversity. How the issues effect those they support within their roles and their legal responsibilities and rights.
Course Outcomes
This course will give delegates an understanding of Equality and Diversity laws and regulations (equality Act 2009). It will help them to understand the types of discrimination and the defined protected characteristics as well as victimising

· Defining Equality and Diversity
· Supporting and valuing Equality and Diversity
· Understanding prejudice and stereotyping
· Defining Harassment and Victimisation
· Exploring ways to minimise discrimination
· Justifiable discrimination
· The History of the Law
· Coverage and limits of the law
· Factors upon which discrimination can be based
· Protected characteristics as defined by law
Delivery
The course is delivered over three hours. It is offered both face to face and via Zoom or MS teams.
Additional Information
Equality Diversity and Inclusion is a core requirement of the CQC and they state “Service providers must comply with equality legislation”
The course fits with many aspects of care and compliments well with Dignity training and the Mental Capacity Act training.
