First Aid Training

EFAW or Emergency First Aid at Work

This is possibly what most people think of when we say ‘a First Aid training course’. Six hours contact time, with assessments as the day proceeds covering the basics of Emergency First Aid. Particular emphasis is placed upon vital skills such as CPR, Basic Life Support and managing choking.
Maximum of twelve people on the course as it is practical and ‘hands on’.

FAW or First Aid at Work

This is the full three day First Aid course. Most settings are required to have a small number of staff trained to this higher level. The course gives more time to practice and understand the basic skills learnt on an Emergency First Aid course , it also covers additional areas such as broken bones, head injuries, strains and sprains. The course is normally run over three consecutive days but we can arrange for flexibility to suit your circumstances.

Mental Health First Aid

Do you have a ‘Mental Health Risk Assessment’ in place? Do you offer support to your staff? These are questions all businesses should be asking. With the additional strain of the last few years exacerbating the pressure all care staff are under, ‘Mental Health Training’ is a way to support, value and nurture your staff. We offer three levels from a ‘Basic Introduction to Mental Health First Aid’ (3 hours, and advised for all staff), through to a ‘Full 2 day course Mental Health First Aid’ training (suitable for managers). The conversation about mental health is more important now than ever before. Talk to us about the ways we can support you and your staff to better understand this important area.

PFA or Paediatric First Aid

This two day course is taught to schools and preschools, in fact any setting where children may need first aid. This training involves ‘First Aid for Adults’ as well as additional training to cover the ‘Adaptations for Children and Babies’. This is a fun and ‘hands on’ course with lots of practical involvement, but which addresses the seriousness of providing Basic Life Support for a baby or child. As a two day course we often run these over a weekend or two for preschools and nurseries. Please note this course requires the delivery of rescue breaths within the current guidance.

BLS or Basic Life Support

This three hour First Aid training course is all ‘hands on’ and practical. It covers the basics of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation or Basic Life Support, and Primary and Secondary Assessments. You will also learn the skills to deal with choking and severe bleeds. This is a great refresher during the three years between EFAW courses. Maximum of twelve people on the course, as it is practical and ‘hands on’.
